Speechless

SPEECHLESS aims to create a speechless communication level between listeners and presenters, thus enabling a constructive presentation/lecture. The audience uses a tool that allows them to give anonymous live feedback, which is visualized to the presenter on a laptop. The latter then has the opportunity to respond in such a way as to pick up the audience again, clarify questions or justify himself in case of contradiction. The system is intended to be beneficial to both sides - listener and presenter - as it allows content, language and pace to be coordinated.

The aspect of anonymity is important insofar as it overcomes the inhibition not to give feedback in order to avoid direct confrontation (in doubt with an authoritarian person). Therefore, the feedback is not transmitted on a linguistic level, but on a visual level, as this bypasses the linguistic sharpness. SPEECHLESS thus creates a safe and constructive space for presentations and discourse.

low-complexity interaction for maximum attention to the presentation

The interaction with the device is designed to be simple and less complex so that the listener‘s attention remains on the presenter. Therefore, the concept was not developed for a smartphone, as this would lead to distractions and make it impossible for the presenter to know whether the audience is on the smartphone or giving feedback. The visualization that the presenter receives is equally simple and understandable. In a coordinate system that is visually enhanced with colors, the professor can read the mood in the room.
